What is the Shahada?

The Shahada is the Islamic declaration of faith and the first of the Five Pillars of Islam. By sincerely reciting it, a person embraces Islam and enters the faith.

أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّٰهُ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ ٱللَّٰهِ

“Ash-hadu an laa ilaaha illallaah, wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadan rasoolullaah.”

“I bear witness that there is no deity but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.”

Before You Begin

• You may choose to take your Shahada privately with the Imam or publicly alongside the community (such as after Jumu’ah prayers).
• We will gladly provide you with an official Shahada Certificate for your records after your declaration.
• You are more than welcome to bring family and friends to witness and celebrate this special moment with you.
