Amanah — a trust we keep
Privacy Policy
Effective and last updated: October 19, 2026
Masjid Ul Haqq (“Masjid Ul Haqq,” “we,” “us”) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit masjid at 514 Islamic Way, Baltimore, MD 21217. This policy explains what personal information we collect through muhb.org and related services (our forms, memberships, classes, events, email and text updates), how we use it, and the choices you have. We treat the information you share with us as an amanah.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Contact and request forms — such as contact, volunteer, sponsorship, Shahadah scheduling, nikkah and marriage services, event space, office-hours bookings, class registration and Zakat assistance requests. Depending on the form, this may include your name, email, phone number, mailing address, the details of your request and, for Zakat assistance, information about your household and financial need.
- Accounts and memberships — your name, email, username, password (stored encrypted), billing address and membership level.
- Payments — membership dues, class fees, event tickets and (when it opens) shop orders are processed by our payment providers, such as Stripe. We receive confirmation of the payment and limited details (for example card type and last four digits); we never see or store your full card number.
- Donations — online donations, pledges and Zakat contributions are processed by MOHID on its own secure platform, under MOHID’s privacy policy. We receive your name, contact details and gift information so we can thank you and issue receipts.
- Email and text updates — your name, email address and, if you opt in to texts, your mobile number.
- Photos you upload — images and any captions or names you submit through our photo-upload page.
- Online shop (when available) — order details, shipping address and order history.
Information collected automatically
- Usage information — pages visited, referring page, browser and device type and an approximate location derived from your IP address, collected by our site’s built-in analytics. We use Google Search Console (through Google Site Kit) to understand how people find us in search.
- Cookies and similar technologies — see Cookies below.
How we use information
- To respond to your messages and requests and to provide services such as nikkah, janazah coordination, counseling appointments, classes and event registrations.
- To manage memberships, process payments, issue receipts and keep records required for a non-profit.
- To review Zakat assistance requests and distribute aid. These requests are handled confidentially by the people responsible for reviewing them.
- To send newsletters, announcements and reminders you have signed up for.
- To run, secure and improve the website, including preventing spam and fraud.
- To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
When we share information
We share information only as needed to serve you:
- Service providers who help us operate — for example our website host (SiteGround), payment processors (Stripe and, for donations, MOHID), email delivery services, and text-message delivery services. They may use your information only to provide their service to us.
- Partners you ask us to involve — for example the funeral home we coordinate with for a janazah you have asked us to arrange.
- Legal reasons — when required by law, or to protect the safety of our community, our staff or others.
Email and text messages
When you subscribe to our newsletter we send a confirmation email, and you are added only after you confirm. Every email includes an unsubscribe link.
If you opt in to text messages from Masjid Ul Haqq, you agree to receive recurring messages about prayer times, events, programs and community announcements. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe at any time and HELP for help, or contact us at info@muhb.org or (410) 728-1363. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Consent to receive texts is not a condition of membership, donation or any purchase.
If you enrol in a class, you may also be offered optional browser notifications for course updates. You can turn these off at any time in your browser settings.
Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies that are needed for the site to work and to remember your choices, such as keeping you signed in, completing a membership or ticket checkout, remembering your chosen language, and remembering whether you have dismissed a notice. Our built-in analytics uses a cookie to count visits. You can block or delete cookies in your browser, but some features, such as signing in or checking out, may not work without them.
Third-party services on our site
- Google Translate loads only if you choose a language from our translate menu. The page text is then sent to Google to translate.
- YouTube khutbah videos show a preview image. YouTube’s player, which sets YouTube cookies, loads only when you press play.
- Google Fonts are used to display our typefaces.
- Prayer times are provided by MOHID through an embedded widget.
These services have their own privacy policies, which apply to your use of them.
Children and youth
Our website is intended for adults. We offer youth programs, but registration for anyone under 18 should be completed by a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13 without a parent’s consent. Photos of minors should be uploaded only by, or with the permission of, a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
How long we keep information
We keep information only as long as we need it for the purposes above. Financial and donation records are kept as long as tax and non-profit record-keeping rules require. You can ask us to delete information we no longer need (see below).
How we protect information
Our site uses encryption in transit (HTTPS), payments are handled by PCI-compliant processors, and access to personal information is limited to the people who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect what you share with us.
Your choices and rights

- Deletion — ask us to delete your information. We will do so unless we must keep it for legal, tax or accounting reasons.

To make a request, email info@muhb.org. We may need to verify your identity first.
